La Sabana urban park

Cost $7 – reservations on site at CRBO booth, or through the following link:

Trip must be confirmed at CRBO booth Oct 30th or the space will be assigned to another costumer.

5:30-7:30am – Departs from Hotel Crowne Plaza Lobby (Sunrise is 5:26 a.m.)

Birding with the experts in La Sabana urban park. This 72-hectare park has been undergoing an important process of restoration into native trees, most of the work has been done around the functionality of the ecosystem for birds, and it’s perhaps the best birding spot in the city of San Jose.

You must sign up at the CRBO booth the day before; payments can be done with any credit card.


Carara National Park

Cost $85

Date: Saturday, November 4

Return: estimated return time 6:00pm

Considered one of the best birding spots in Costa Rica, where the rainforest meets the dry forest, nearly 400 species of birds have been documented at this national park. Includes transportation, entrance fees. Does not include meals, it will include a lunch stop.



Cerro de la Muerte

Cost $70

Date: Saturday, November 4

This is the heart of the endemics of Costa Rica; you will visit some of the most pristine, best-protected regions of Costa Rica, where most of the Talamanca Range endemics and specialties can be seen. The tour includes a visit to Los Quetzales National Park, the paramo in search of Volcano Junco, and San Gerardo Valley. Potential species include the Resplendent Quetzal, Volcano Junco, Volcano hummingbird, Timberline Wren, and much more. The trip includes ornithologist field guide, entrance fees and transportation. It does not include meals; there will be a lunch stop at a restaurant.

La Selva Biological Station

This tour is organized by the Costa Rican Association of Ornithologists (AOCR) and consists of a day-long expedition to La Selva Biological Station and vicinity. Tour includes transportation and entrance fees, lunch and guides.
